Kala Samooh an artists co-operative was formed on 4thSeptember, 1984. Based in Gwalior - Madhya Pradesh, the performers were once a part of the celebrated Ranga Sri Little Ballet Troupe. Recognized for it’s repertoire of Indian Ballet and dance dramas the group is a nationally recognized repertory company.
In the four decades of it’s existence the group has staged more than 50 theatrical productions like Geet Govind, Urubhangam, Bhasmasur Mohini, Pebbet, Kaamayani, Asafal Kranti, Ram Ki Shakti Pooja, Mriganayani and Mrityunjaya.
The group has performed at all the major cities like Delhi, Kolkatta, Bhopal, Jaipur, Kochi and Imphal. They have also participated at various festivals like the Ujjain Ardhakumbh, Jaipur World Theatre Olympics, Dehradun’s Virasat, Khajuraho Nritya Samaroh and Manipur’s Sangai Festival.
M.K.Hojaingambhasingh winner of the Rashtriya Theatre Samman is known for his proficiency in various classical, folk and contemporary dance forms. Currently the General Secretary of Kala Samooh Gwalior he has choreographed more than 50 ballets, dance dramas and theatrical productions.
Dr. Keshav Pandey is the Chairman of Kala Samooh. He is very well known Senior Journalist based in Gwalior.
Raghavendra Bhadoriya is a folk and theatre artist who has performed in numerous Nukkad nataks, dance dramas and theatrical productions. Having completed a century of shows for Suryaputra, he has also begun his film career with Baasan that is playing at various film festivals
Indraneel Kaul is a film-maker credited with projects for television, documentaries, tourism and corporate projects. He has lately been involved in writing, directing and conducting workshops for Kala Samooh Gwalior, one of the few dance and theatre repertory companies of India.
Neelaabh Kaul is a Cinematographer in the Indian Film Industry who is credited with numerous feature films, ads and web series. Of late he is involved in guiding the artists of Kala Samooh Gwalior. A group that he was born in and performed for as a young child artist.
