The campus was once home to the internationally acclaimed Ranga Sri Little Ballet Troupe (LBT). Known for it’s exposition of Indian Ballet the group attracted artists and students from all over the country. Groups from Bengal, Gujarat, Kerala, Manipur and Orissa brought with them the classical and folk forms of their regions. The goodwill generated by Shanti & Gul Bardhan brought political patrons and art lovers from India and abroad.
Celebrated choreographers like Prabhat Ganguly, Apuni Karta, Krishnachandra Naik and Narendra Sharma made this campus the nerve centre of Indian ballet in the 60’s and 70’s. With the passage of time the theatre wing was enriched with the arrival of Bansi Kaul and B.M Shah in the late 70’s
Unfortunately the internal turmoil in the group came to the fore when Ranga Sri Little ballet Troupe decided to move to Bhopal in 1984. A majority of the artistic commune who had made this campus their own elected to stay on. And thus was born Kala Samooh an artists co-operative.
